The one thing I have been realizing since beginning my deeper spiritual practice is that the universe responds positively to fun! It is now a priority for me to make each day fun. Sure, this includes taking part in activities that I really enjoy, but it also includes making the daily run of the mill activities fun and enjoyable too!
I have the intention of making each day of work fun, I enjoy my time with my clients, and I revel in the joy that is available to me in every moment. I enjoy my drive to and from work (listening to awesome tunes makes this easy); and I enjoy my down time after work, whether that be with friends/family or by myself.
I look for opportunities to have fun and enjoy myself. This really does transform how my day unfolds. And I know the universe is going to respond to this and send me more things to enjoy and be grateful for.
We need to let go of the idea that hard-work and struggle is the only way to get things done! This is absolutely not true! In fact, things will get done more easily and efficiently if you are having fun in the process. We can still achieve the same goals and hit those targets… but the process of getting there will be much more enjoyable… and the side effect of this is that you will attract positive things and experiences more easily and more often.
I used to loathe going to the hairdressers. I would sit there and make small talk and get uncomfortable with the fact that I have to stare at myself in a mirror for 2 hours. But this morning I was the first time I went along to the hairdressers, feeling good (after my morning meditation), and I went in there with the intention of enjoying myself and having fun. This made the whole experience so much easier! I was not resisting the small talk and the staring at myself in the mirror. I was embracing it. And I had a lovely time and left there feeling nourished – not drained.
Like I said before also, going into my workday filled with a positive attitude and an intention to enjoy myself absolutely transforms the experience of being at work. And not only that, it allows me to really be present with my clients and I enjoy the moment. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and really be myself… rather than resisting the present moment because it is “work”.
I urge you to change your mindset today. Change it to one that has the intention of having fun and change it to one that has the intention of bringing joy to those around you, and bringing your bright shining light to the world around you.
If you have trouble getting into this kind of mind-frame, then do what I do… and sit in a meditation for 15 minutes in the morning. Have the intention in your meditations to surrender all your worries and concerns to the universe, and focus on feeling peace, joy, abundance, and gratitude in every moment. Affirm to yourself that you are happy and excited, and that your day will without a doubt, unfold effortlessly, with ease and grace. Affirm that you will have fun today, and that you will bring light with you wherever you go. Repeat these affirmations several times. This will transform your day.
And once again I will say, forget about the belief that you must struggle to get things done. Living in this way will make you feel tired, drained and unhappy… and you certainly wont be living in the moment… you will be living in the thought that “I will be OK once I finish this task, or reach this goal”. The irony of this kind of thinking is that once you get there, you will not be happy… you will simply start focusing on the next task, goal or level of achievement.
Enjoy the journey, enjoy the process, enjoy the ride.
This moment is all we ever have.
So have fun with it!
